I had a customer made a 50 dollar order yesterday but didn't want to wait the 18 days or so for delivery and asked how much express mail service would be.

 

I took the package to get an exact quote.  cost $ 47 dollars. Ok....and how long will that take for delivery I asked.

 

' Oh , about a month '

 

Huh.....how can express delivery cost so much but take longer than ordinary shipping . ?  Well she said , we have just been given notice from head office that due to the new variant , lockdowns in Europe and it being Christmas we cant guarantee express mail times.

But pre covid only a week ?  Yes , she said , but customers have told us they sent express packages to Europe and they took longer than a month for delivery.

 

So . Whether this is in fact the case I don't know just reporting what I was told. Don't know if anyone else has been told this.

 

I therefore advised my customer to cancel since I couldn't guarantee a delivery date.

Honest John.

 

Plus it's a pain dealing with queries over missing items and having to issue refunds. Not desperate for the cash.

If by express you mean EMS don't bother. They go into the same plane as airmail epacket or registered.
