Fig tree in Chiang Mai caught between court and conservationists
A century-old sacred fig tree in the middle of a highway in Chiang Mai’s Muang district has again become the centre of controversy, despite a court order to relocate it. The Administrative Court issued an order on July 2nd for the Highway Department to move the tree within three months. As the deadline approaches next month and the department prepares for the relocation, environmental protection groups, led by the Committee for the Protection of Mae Ping and its Environment have vowed to appeal again to the court to stop the relocation. About the high class hotels
Which part of high-class hotels do you like or what is important for you? Personally, I love great breakfast buffets. And those don't exist in many hotels. For the room, it shouldn't be bad, but I don't need all marble and all that. So, for me a good hotel is a good hotel which is near to a great hotel with a great breakfast buffet. -

Scores of people flocked to grab close-out bargains at Tang Hua Seng department store’s Thon Buri branch today, after reports went viral online that it would close for good tomorrow. However according to an announcement issued by the store on September 6 to employees and tenants, the branch will only suspend business temporarily, because the Metropolitan Electricity Authority will disconnect the electricity supply due to non-payment of the bill. The directors are currently in negotiation with potential new investors and will resume business as soon as the talks are completed. So now we have two completely different versions of what happened: a man stole a tractor and was pursued and beaten to death by a mob, or he was riding his own tractor and died of natural causes or narcotics. The only thing the stories have in common is that an off-duty policeman foolishly tried to shoot out the tires of the vehicle, something which Thai cops do regularly - perhaps having seen it in Hollywood movies - and apparently don't realize is dangerous and ineffective. It's also perplexing to read that the cop joined the pursuit in front of the Siam Hotel, which was torn down over a decade ago, and that he couldn't catch up with an e-taek on a motorbike, even though the maximum speed of that type of vehicle is probably no more than 15km/hr. -
