NE1 Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 Last couple of days my external discs are disconnecting themselves. Yesterday it was my Seagate , and just now it was my La Cie. No recent updates on Mac to blame , could it possibly be the cool weather ? at the moment it is 21deg c in my computer room. 1

tomazbodner Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 Maybe just another bug of Monterey? Googled this and it is for M1 based Macs and Big Sur. But many of Big Sur bugs migrated into Monterey and haven't been fixed. That's why I still stick to Catalina. https://www.howtoisolve.com/external-hdd-ssd-drive-keeps-disconnecting-mac/ Not sure this will help but worth a try. 1

Two different external disks in Two diiferent ports using Two different cables in Two days I am just waiting for tomorrow to see if it happens to the Third disc . I have had these 3 discs plugged in for just over a year now without a problem. Updated to Monterey when it first became available , this is the first time I have had any problems like this.

ozimoron Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 Have you restarted the laptop? Checked the disk utilities to see if it recognises the devices?
