BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s Prime Minister ordered relevant units to be on a high alert for flooding in the southern region, asking them to report any disaster-related incidents to him directly at any time.

Government Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana has conveyed the good wishes of Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha to villagers in the southern region affected by a flooding disaster.

According to the spokesman, Gen Prayut has ordered all units to provide assistance to disaster victims, while performing repairs on damaged facilities and roads. Agencies involved in this operation are to provide regular updates to the general public until the situation is resolved.

Mr. Thanakorn said the Prime Minister has been closely monitoring the southern flood situation and has directed relevant agencies to provide swift assistance to all.

Seasonal rains and high tides can be expected throughout the remainder of this year. Villagers in risk areas are encouraged to keep abreast of weather announcements.
