His partner in crime, David Mulcahy thought that he had got away with the heinous crimes for well over a decade. Did you ever have any dealings with Colin Sutton who was instrumental in catching Levi Bellfield and 'The Night Stalker' - Delroy Grant? Your career must have been both fascinating and very rewarding. I would echo GG's sentiment and thank you for your service. -

Thailand Accelerates 145 Billion Baht Digital Wallet Payout
Thailand plans to fast-track the distribution of 145 billion baht from its "digital wallet" programme, according to Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat. Originally slated for the year's end, the initiative aims to provide immediate economic relief to vulnerable groups amid a sluggish economic recovery. Julapun's announcement came during a budget debate in the senate, where he emphasised the urgency of short-term economic stimulation. The government has allocated a total of 450 billion baht for this major handout scheme, intending to transfer 10,000 baht to 50 million Thais for spending in their local communities. The digital wallet project, a centrepiece of Thailand's economic strategy, is particularly crucial given the nation's recent political upheaval. Last month's unexpected removal of Srettha Thavisin as premier raised doubts about the timeline for such stimulus measures. His successor, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, has signalled a policy shift to include cash disbursements, reflecting a flexible approach to the country's immediate needs. So far, 32 million people have registered for the programme. However, the scheme's effectiveness faces challenges, as funds were initially meant to be distributed via smartphone applications, excluding some without access to such technology. It's still unclear whether the first batch of payments, expected later in September and sourced from the 2024 budget and alternative funds, will be delivered in cash. Economists, including former central bank governors, have criticised the handout as fiscally unsound. Nonetheless, the government defends the programme as essential for revitalising Thailand's economy, which saw only 2.3% growth in the second quarter and is expected to grow a mere 2.6% this year. Paetongtarn has reiterated her commitment to immediate economic stimulation, aligning with her predecessor's policy goals. Her new government issued a policy statement over the weekend, set for parliamentary presentation this week. As Thailand navigates its economic and political landscape, the swift implementation of the digital wallet scheme stands as a critical measure to bolster domestic activity and support its citizens. What was your job (profession) when you moved to Thailand
When I started teaching in Burma around 2012, I found that the best hotel in Yangon (Trader's Hotel), was fully booked up by staff from Oxfam, Save The Children etc,who would occasionally pop out in their brand new, 4-wheel drive off-road landrovers to visit the local markets. In disgust, and unwilling to donate any money to them I established my own (miniscule) educational charity in Burma, where every penny/cent/yen etc is used for the benefit of young students).- 1

I accept he was probably looking at something to do with women, but was it porn? These silly days even Playboy centerfolds were classified as "porn" by the wokistas. Porn is actually banned in Thailand, so it could just have been a bit of erotica, and the easily offended assumed it was porn- if he had a pillow on his lap it might help their case, but if not, likely they are talking rubbish. -

There would be a long line of reformed smokers who would agree even moreso hey, and the amputees too. Years ago I visited a dear old mate in acute aged care hospital with emphasema and he barely had the energy to cough. EXTREMELY disturbing to watch.😭 He stank of cigaretes and had to go outside to smoke and they had previously resuscitated him 5 times but he then declared a DNR, Do Not Resuscitate. I said my goodbyes. He died a week later. But; punishing cigarette addicts heavily with fines for smoking where they shouldt, is a more civilized response than the proposal.. Hope at least some smokers have taken note of the 5 pages so far, and my above encounter. Smoking is a very sad, sick, annoying, deadly, adicted scenario. -

I have never understood, apart from tax revenue, why the various governments do not simply outlaw the production, marketing, distribution and consumption of tobacco products, with suitable penalties. Problem solved, end of.
