Featured Replies

The body of Prince Norodom Ranariddh, former President of the Supreme Privy Council to the King and President of the Funcinpec Party, arrived in Phnom Penh at 11am yesterday on a special flight from Paris, France. Kong Sam Ol, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace, Prince Ranariddh’s immediate family and other royal family members received his body at the Phnom Penh International Airport.

After a Buddhist prayer ceremony, the body was escorted by military police to his residence in Samdech Pan Street in Daun  Penh district where a military band received it with honours before it was taken inside until a state funeral on Wednesday. The government in a recent directive announced it will set Wednesday as an official day of mourning where all flags at public and private institutions must be flown at half-mast.

All entertainment programmes on both public and private TVs and radios are also ordered to be postponed on that day. The royal body will be cremated on Wednesday morning at Botom Vattey pagoda in Phnom Penh. Prince Ranariddh passed away in Paris on November 28 at the age of 77 years from illness.
