I have just started a new teaching job and the TAX and social security contributions seem to be a lot higher than at my last job. Does anyone know what the percentage (roughly) should be for both??

It actually changes depending on the salary- Thailand has tax brackets like everywhere else. But unless you're making silly money as a teacher, it should be roughly 10% plus or minus a bit.

If you make 15k or more a month your social security tax will be 750 baht a month.

You pay 750

Your employer pays 750

and the gov't chips in some, but I'm not sure how much.

Your tax will vary depending on your situation. Married, single, children etc.

When you file your taxes in March you can deduct the amount you payed into soc sec from the gross, prior to calculating the tax.
