It's unclear for me if one can apply for the Special Tourist Visa from a neighbouring country, or is it available at home only.

Specifically, I'm on a Tourist Visa by mid February and was wondering if I can prolongue my stay via STV, potentially by paying a visiting trip to Malaysia? 

Does anyone have any insights?

A STV can only be applied for in your home country or country of legal residence.
