Not again! Another "Stairway to Heaven" found in Korat

Picture: Sanook

Sanook found another bridge with electrical wires and cables all around it.

People using the bridge would have to step over the wires and the locals fear they are in danger.

And unlike the one called "Stairway to Heaven" in Sattahip this one is actually open for use.

And has been for several months.

Not just that - it is a vital bridge leading to the school of Lung Pradu in Huay Thalaeng district of Nakhon Ratchasima in north east Thailand.

It is meant to be used by people from a housing estate to access the school.

Sanook said that everyone is afraid - but especially the elderly who may not be able to step over or may trip.

Locals called for the authorities to get it sorted fast.

Unfortunately Sanook seemed to have made no contact with the authorities in this case.

In Sattahip the mayor and district chief soon arrived to inspect an unfinished bridge and assure the public.

Stay tuned for their response in this case.

There are many more of this kind of examples around Thailand.

If no one speaks out about it nothing will happen.

a local U-turn here is very dangerous and i have always said that people are going to die

there, last week there was an accident.

The U-turn is still open,why?

No body dead yet,i guess we will have to wait for that to happen and it will.

Who allows this kind of work to be done without looking at the plans and moving the dangerous wires and post either up higher out of reach or placed under ground.  Grab a handrail and possibly get the shock of a lifetime.....

Hard to believe that someone would build the thing and think that's OK to use.

They get paid to build.

Not their job, or any other part of their life experience, to "think".

"Hardness" relieved?

Pprobably no one saw it was under the wires until they reached it at the top.. The one who started should have looked first, and measured the distance....waste of money.

Easily fixed by removing the pole and the wires and getting the space covered up.

but still extra work and more expensive.... so still waste of money..

Of course its more expense, except the builder should be doing this from out of his own pocket, and loosing any money he may have made as a profit.

In 99% of countries builders would would discuss this with the project 'owner' and it would be satisfactorily resolved by the project owner changing the plan / details of the work / scope of work.

But also true in 99% of countries builders would not just change the plans.

Concrete steps pre-fabricated alĺ to the same size so the height is fixed for traffic clearance.

The guys building the bridges are not engineers and work with what they are given.

I agree, but, those cables are usually phone or internet cables, not power lines and they're sure not connected o the handrails!
