An explosive device was discovered near a bridge at Yoko Village in the Khao Mai Kaew Subdistrict, Banglamung district while a local resident was reportedly urinating near an abandoned field.

Officials from the Huai Yai Police Station along with EOD (explosive ordnance) officers arrived at the scene after being alerted of the suspicious device yesterday, December 21st, at around 1:00 PM.

A grenade was discovered packed in an iron can and according to police could have exploded at any time. The EOD team cautiously inspected the device before moving and destroying it in a safe area.

Amazing that the 6 people in the 2 pick-up trucks that stopped next to it to pound stakes into the ground for the political  advertising sign didn't notice it. ????

Unusual positioning, usually they go on corners and junctions so that you cannot see what is coming!

"A grenade was discovered packed in an iron can and according to police could have exploded at any time." But obligatory standing and pointing carried out.

If that went off mid-stream it would have ruined his day.

Grenades don’t just go off at any time, you actually need to pull the pin!

That would be true if old grenades didn't weep nitroglycerine.

Just as well there wasn't a picture of pointing at his todger.

I had envisioned the grenade in the can with the pin pulled, but couldn't think of a good reason to do that.

No, they didn't, it wasn't there, it was floating in a pond.

But it didn’t say old grenade and as someone has already pointed out, if the danger had been that great they wouldn’t have posed for a picture right next to it.

If you wanted to blow up the finder then it would make sense.

So the pointing ceremony was a fake?  Disappointing

Pull the pin then pack the grenade in the can so the trigger is kept in by the walls of the can, when the can rusts and deteriorates the grenade triggers and explodes, pure terror weapon with no particular target, perpetrator is months or years away when it activates.

Reminded me of Army basic training some 50 odd years ago.. Drill Sargent said unlike what you see on TV your not going to pull the pin with your teeth...

Obviously, especailly if you bother to read the OP properly, it was fished out of the pond and then placed on the ground.

Some of Thailand's best discoveries have been made whilst Thai's have been relieving themselves.  ????
