The name Siam would also fit better into the first two words of the National Anthem. At present they fit the three syllables "Pratet Thai" into four notes whereas "Pratet Siam" would scan a lot better.

A country or city can call itself what it wants but common usage will still prevail. The city is Bombay. The Indians can call in Mumbai if they want. Is Helsinki the capital of Finland as we all know the country as or, as they Finns call it, Suomi ?

Change the name back.
