Tragardh
I've read that Thailand has apparently opened up the country to tourists, but does that also apply to unvaccinated travelers? If so - How? I would really like to travel to Thailand this year but for someone like me who does not intend to get vaccinated, it is actually not straightforward, on the contrary it is really complicated. There is a lack of clarity and communication. I also read about travelers who lose their vacation, their payouts, bookings and reservations. It all seems very insecure on the whole and it is not a very motivating for me to travel under such unclear conditions. Surat Thani Islands, Krabi, Phang Nga approved for sandbox scheme from 11 January. But what does that mean for someone like me? Can I travel to Thailand - if so: Can I travel (Domestic flight) in Thailand, for example to one of the new destinations for the Sandbox scheme? I read about AQ Hotels in Samui but it is not at all clear to me if I can even reach this destination and make use of it, straight from Bangkok. Can someone please clarify this and explain to me what infact to do! Thank you! Edited January 8, 2022 by Tragardh
eisfeld
Currently afaik only the Phuket Sandbox allows new applications. The others have been suspended. If you are not fully vaccinated then you will have to go into 10 day quarantine at specially designated hotels (Alternative Quarantine / AQ). After that you can travel inside Thailand (for now, things can change fast) via some means but not others. Some airlines allow domestic flights with a negative test result, others only for fully vaccinated travelers. I would suggest you read the official Thailand Pass website at https://tp.consular.go.th/ and your local embassy's website for all the detailed information on travel requirements. IMHO it's a bad idea to travel now as an unvaccinated person for a plethora of reasons.
Tragardh
Eisfeld Thank you So I can fly from EU to Bangkok, and then reach the ASQ facility hotel in Koh Samui, no problem? PS: Why is it a bad idea to travel as a non-vaccinated? I seek the company of CoV-2 infected all the time. It never work on me! Get vaccinated! I understand that this is your choice and obviously you don't have to get vaccinated - if you stay at home. But when I read posts like yours I always think: Why do you want to go through all this hassle, maybe for years, if you can just have two injections (likely for free) and all is done. Wouldn't that make (travel) life so much easier? And in case that you have a medical reason why you can't get vaccinated then that is a different story. I don't know the exceptions but I am pretty sure there are some exceptions.
Tragardh
I seek knowledge and experience on this travel matter, so please respond to my questions, and take your political opinions on vaccines elsewhere. Those are not the topic here. Have you got nothing of substance to add, then don't type it here - thank you. 1

You can't enter Thailand through BKK. You can fly to Phuket and go into an AQ hotel in Phuket. You can't do it in Koh Samui. After 10 days inside your hotel room you can leave.
