Using #AstraZeneca’s vaccine as a third booster can increase the immune response to Covid, including the Omicron variant, AstraZeneca said on Thursday. (1/2)

“These important studies show that a third dose of Vaxzevria after two initial doses of the same vaccine, or after mRNA or inactivated vaccines, strongly boosts immunity against Covid-19,” said Professor Sir Andrew J Pollard, director of the Oxford Vaccine Group. (2/2)

Thailand seems determined to throw a totally hysterical hissy fit about omicron.

UK, US and Europe are pretty much on the other side of omicron with a lot less hospitalisations and deaths than previous waves.

By spring the UK, US and Europe will be treating it as an endemic disease.

Thailand and SE Asia need to concentrate on their booster campaigns and stop the xenophobic hysteria.

#Bangkok reported 790 Covid cases on Thursday, mostly in districts of Khan Na Yao (61), Chatuchak (55), Bang Khae (29), Ratchathewi (26), and Bangkok Noi (20). (1/3)

The capital is now conducting around 4,000 proactive tests (excluding walk-in tests at medical facilities and self-testing) per day with a positive rate of 1-2 per cent, the BMA said. (2/3)

10,000 beds have been prepared for the Omicron wave and 1,700-1,800 beds are already occupied. The capacity could be increased to 20,000-30,000 beds if need be, the BMA said. (3/3)
