Once, in the ride down to Pattaya, we passed an entire convoy of VW Beetles. Must have been the Beetle club going to a meet. The other day I saw a perfectly restored MGB (perhaps a 1972 or so). I've also seen a late 60s Chevy Malibu, an early 70s Camaro SS, a Dodge Charger form the 70s, and a Mustang. Anyway, it's sort of surprising to see some of the old classic American cars with the right hand steering wheel.

Anyone caught a cab in Uttaradit, lately?

Last year I saw three working taxis, there.

All were Datsun Bluebirds (P410?) circa 1963.

Love to see what was on their odometers :o

Also, last month driving north of Rayong (near the lakes) spotted a red Lotus Espirit under a tree (had been there a loooong time!).

Several MK1 escorts, a MK3 Cortina and an old battered transit that could have been a MK1 but I am not sure. All in Nakhon Sawan.

I gather from a friend that he has seen an old MK2 Cortina in BKK.

I jut remembered... I saw an really old type VW camper van - seems they get everywhere too.

So think where do they come from?

Japan is the main supplier

US left a load of crap after Vietnam

Australia keeps trying to sell the odd vehicle here (I wouldn't be surprised if that's where the Cortinas and Anglias originated too.

The mini - ubiquitous - but looks like BL had some dealership here in the 60s/70s (1100s and Allegros - YUCK!)

but in the end when the market kicked into big numbers only the the Japanese could handle it.

personal Imports? Well nowadays the duty is prohibitive.

The future? Well Oz has signed an FTA so maybe we'll see a few nice Utes.

Just coming back from Zeer Rangsit a few moments ago and passed a early 60s VW Kammback station wagon, looked like a very early version. I think these were known as Type 3, but could be wrong. Almost thought it was an early Saab at first.

I don't recall the DeSoto having such high tailfins in 1957, but you are probably correct. I may have mentioned it, but last time I was on the central Pacific coast of Mexico at Lazaro Cardenas, they wanted a small fortune for an original 1952 or 1951 DeSoto sedan, with original six cylinder motor. This, in an otherwise bog-standard used car lot. Your DeSoto seems to be next to a red Ferrari.....

Looks more like a worked over Camaro or similar.

Regards

/edit PS Looking at images on the net, I think the fins have been enhanced. The images I see have the rear light cluster stopping at the wing lip.//

Take my work for it, it's a Tans Am or at least by the front fender side scoops it should be. lol I really like the 56 Bellaire. Where exactly is this place and what kind of prices do they have on these cars?

its about half way between klang and nua on sukhumvit on the beach side, easy to find, prices i think he wanted around 2.5 for the deosto, transam around 500k and same for the daimler series 1,

Spotted on Sukhumvit last week: A 1960s-era dark green Bentley with a white-gloved liveried driver and a very old Chinese couple in the massive back seat, slurping noodles and seemingly oblivious to the outside world -- or at least finding it distastful enough to pretend it wasn't there.

I often see a 1966-era Ford Consul Corsair saloon in Chiang Mai that closely resembles the one I bought new (in Texas, with RHD).

You'd earn 84 points if you spot an Armstrong-Siddeley Saphire or a Marcos.

A Lanna Classic Car Club member apparently has a Sapphire here in Chiang Mai. I havn't seen it or know if it's running
