Wednesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 2,398,944 with 22,076 deaths.

The news comes as the Department of Medical Sciences and a network of laboratories in Thailand have detected nine cases of the BA.2 sub-variant of Omicron since the beginning of this month, by means of whole genome sequencing, according to Dr. Supakit Sirilak, the department’s director-general.

He said today (Tuesday) that Thailand’s first BA.2 sub-variant case was found on January 2nd and it was reported to GISAID, a global science initiative and primary source which provides open access to genomic data of influenza viruses and COVID-19.

Another bump upwards. This does not look like any other countries covid cases with Omicron as the main variant.  Something is amiss here and it's not only because of a lack of testing....

Think even with lack of testing you'd see an increase up to plateau eventually, not this rolling wave on the bar chart, something definitely amiss. Also the rhetoric from the government does not match what is happening with the case numbers.

How do 112 Tourists from abroad contract Covid after all the tests and procedures they have been through to make it to Phuket.

It does seem very high at roughly a Third of all cases reported on the Island

I guess the answer to that little puzzle could be in the number of Thais -343 reported, that have contracted the Virus,
