ASEAN NOW News
As the Lunar New Year holidays end, demand for flights to HCM City soared, with many routes sold out according to reports across the media. Passengers at Tan Son Nhat airport Seems the same happened up in Hanoi. The travel system can normally cope, but as we all know back home, during national holidays the roads, rails, and airports tend to grind to a halt. One passenger said that he had just bought three tickets to return home to work with a total cost of VNĐ18 million (US$780), nearly three times higher than usual. Many other people who were unable to buy plane tickets, had to change their routes back to the city such as train or bus, but it is still difficult to buy tickets. Some people eventually even had to postpone the date of the return or ask their boss for more time off. Taxi drivers Heavy traffic around Tan Son Nhat airport After hardly any work during the pandemic, I suppose you cannot really blame the taxis drivers for charging well over the normal fare. The bottom line is if you were not prepared to play the game, you most likely would end up at the back of the queue or would have had to take a bus. Same with airlines who needed to start grabbing some income. Fares were high due to demand which is how airlines like Air Asia tend to operate. Did you go away or stay home and avoid the chaos? Or perhaps you did take a flight or taxi ride. Did they put up the prices?
