Sanook Thai Caption: It's been there for ages and I've never won the lottery

Great interest was not surprisingly garnered when a Thai man decided to burn down the shrine in his house and accompany the flames with music, all done on TikTok.

He'd been putting out the "naam daeng" (usually red Fanta) on all the holy days but he'd never once won the lottery.

So what was the point.

However, that was not the end of the story after Sanook reporters went to investigate at the house in Isaan sub-district of Muang Buriram in Thailand's north east.

They found just the remains of the shrine.

Benjo, 27, the poster and relative of the owner said that steps were taken to make sure that the trees and house didn't burn down too.

She said that in the three years it had been there the owner had not won the lottery.

He always lit joss-sticks and put out the Fanta but the final straw came with the latest drawing when they divined the number as 537 and 957 came up.

Nikorn, 40, the man at the center of the drama, said he'd be building a bigger and better shrine in its place with a modern design.

Yep, though close to a home could end badly.

Damn! No lottery win. Now he'll have to look for a job...

He might want to consider applying for a janitor job in a Saudi palace. As the past has proven, this can potentially be much more lucrative than wasting money on "nam daeng" and the Thai lottery.

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result."

Oh, and Nikorn, next time better do some background checks on who exactly moves into your shrine. Not every spirit likes "nam daeng', you know? Some really appreciate a good bottle of scotch. Daily!

But what happens if he is disappointed about the wage or treatment? He might burn down the whole palace! Imagine the implications for Saudi-Thai relations; they could be on ice till 2565 (as for the Gregorian calendar)...

Lucky for GMO HQ, being far away...the shrine became to choice for vengeance.

If he was a truly-devout Thai Buddhist, he'd be putting out blue Fanta as an offering. Just sayin'.

Better use of Fanta than drinking it.

I wonder how much money he wasted on the lottery over three years?

Yeah, but this is Thailand, they'll be crowding round it tomorrow seeing lottery numbers in ashes and seared wood

The state sponsored lottery and shrines.... supported and proped up by the poor and gullible!

Who says governments takes advantages of its citizens! Lol
