Looking to buy a mechanical bathroom scale

Featured Replies

Hi.  Since I’ve been in Thailand I’ve been unable to find an accurate bathroom scale.  With these digital scales, I would weigh myself and get one number, then weigh myself a little later and get a different number.

I’d like to get a nice, accurate mechanical scale or analog scale.  Could anyone advise me on where to find these products in Bangkok?  Thanks!

The 1 baht ones outside 7Eleven look decent

I've got one of those, they're great, just take the lowest indicated weight!

May be a bit big and cumbersome for his place but I think they're chained to the shop anyway!

Lazada, Shopee.

What gives you the confidence that, although a mechanical scale may show the same weight each time, it will be any more accurate than an average of the "variable" digital scale?

These old fashioned sliding weight scales ARE accurate.

I found some sources in Thai/Bangkok but the 5 digit price starting with 2 will probably dampen euphoria.

If I want to be sure I go to the village health center.

They have an age old sliding weight scale and that is reliable.

The digital gadgets around differ up to 1.5 kg between each other.

Left is the truth. Right shows 0.5 kg more (hate it).

Digital gadget at home shows 1 kg less (love the illusion).

To know the truth you should find a scale at a hospital reception or compare misc scales at pharmacies etc.
