Thai Rath reported that 33 out of 70 illegal Myanmar workers being held in a wooden building at Muang Prachuap Khirikhan police station ahead of their deportation had tested positive for Covid.

Because of a a lack of space it was necessary to continue to hold all the migrants together so non-postive cases were mingling with positive.

Now it was confirmed that four police officers at the station had tested positive too and other relatives of police at some flats for officers were also infected.

With a potential new cluster on the cards it had been decided to close the police station to the public temporarily.

Moves are underway to treat all those infected by the virus.
