Sounded like some creepy guy shuffling around your house at night. The background sound is likely a combination or small tree frogs and insects

It is very common and there was a thread about them some time back forget what the insect is called.

If you had a recent downpour it will be toads.......going at it nineteen to the dozen.

I'd more concerned about your peeping-Tom.

Apart from the creepy sillouette guy wandering around late at night, I would say its frogs/toads usually louder after a recent thunderstorm /downpour. ????

Could it be one of Putin's drones.

Cicadas

No.  Cicadas are insects - not frogs.

I agree. The Thais call them Jak a Jaan (my spelling). They start around this time of year. Can get very loud.

Here is some info on them:

tinnitus ... ????

Was it recorded before or after the rains ... that will give you a clue to which of the 2 are being suggested.

If I am not mistaken Dek a Jaan's are what in the east we call Katydids.............tons of the up North, they eat them quite regularly in Isaan and Laos..............but I agree with the above folks, I think these are frogs, tiny lil fella's in the rice fields, but hundreds start the noise at once and can get quite deafening.   Cicada's have a shrilling, whirling sound that can last five, ten minutes each.................good thing they only come out every 7 years or so in US Central states

I initially thought they were probably cicadas, but after a second listen I suspect they may be frogs or toads, especially if the recording was made after a good rain.
