A sleepy rental room/guest house staff member reported to the Pattaya police of a burglary in the Nong Prue sub-district, Bang Lamung, Chonburi. The culprit is, as of now, still on the loose.

Yesterday, March 20th, Ms. Pimphaka Hemla, a 49-year-old rental room staff member, provided local media with security camera footage of a burglary at her workplace which happened three days before in the second road area (March 17th).

In the footage, a tall man wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black trousers, and sandals was roaming at the front of the lodging before entering through the front door, grabbing 54,870 Baht, gold necklaces, and rings from around the lobby and front desk office, and casually fled the scene. According to Ms. Pimphaka’s statement, the total worth of stolen properties was 160,000 Baht.

Is there any other type.

I've never seen one that's not asleep.

? Really

Bent over, head on the arm?

Typical office sleep position?

2:47 AM is a damn bad time to stay awake.

From own observation: at these times even a bigger place (5 storey hotel) had a single guard on duty after 8(!) PM until early morning.

Oops, I corrected it.

Why does a guesthouse have money and jewelry lying around?

Oh come on, no safety deposit boxes. Yes sir just leave all you valuables behind the desk, we will take care of them for you. Sounds like a set up robbery to me.

More the point is why all these valuables were sort of lying around like Easter eggs!

I reckon it was staged

- probably the bf

or

-fake valuables declared

No way anyone would leave money and jewelry lying around when napping.

I can speak from personal experience, 2-47 am is a terrible time trying to stay awake

Thief could have stolen it during the day as he'd probably have been on his phone and oblivious to anything going on around him

Two things strike me as odd.

First they spent 100 baht on tubing and plastic wrap to protect the employees from covid, but nothing on the gold.

Second the sign that says;

"Expensive jewelry is not for sale"

On the bright side the thief was unable to steal the more valuable electric ????

Looks like the night shift did not get a good sleep on his off hours, and that is on him.

Better luck on his next job.

The old story of small hotel night staff was that they had the key to the safe and would often do a runner with all the stuff guests had left in there for security.....

It hasn't always been the staff.  Sometimes, the hotel owner has stolen the guest's valuables.
