Phuket man scoops 18 million on the national lottery - thanks to his Chevy!

A Phuket man has his number plate on his Chevrolet to thank for winning big in the state lottery.

 

He used the 8618 plate to help him get the 970618 number with three tickets.

 

He was using the "plus" feature so got everything about the prize sorted online.

That was after Phanuwat, 37, had checked and double checked his numbers - added to the fact it was April Fool's Day and someone might be having him on. 

 

Asked by Thai Rath what he intends to spend the money on he said it would go into family funds, for when the patter of little feet come along.

What plus feature ? I thought nothing about the lottery was online ?

The lotto comes in groups of five, right?  So, are there one or two other lucky ticket holders in or near Phuket ?

You can buy 10,15,20 tickets with the same number if you find a seller that has them. They usually charge more than 80-100bht per ticket for the privilege though .

It's easy to win in the Thai lottery. Just buy enough tickets and you will win for sure.

I remember when I once was in an office and the lottery numbers came out and one women was delighted that she just won 20k.

I though: good luck for her.

And then the others told me that she spends basically all her money buying lottery tickets so she will "win" all the time. ????

Wife’s mate does this. Posts on Facebook when she wins all time on the numbers lottery , but as I said to my wife she basically buys 60-70 numbers between 1 and 99 so covers most of them. So when she actually wins and says she won 20,000 or whatever then you can bet she spent about 18000 buying numbers !
Loses more than she wins for sure !

Yes in OZ nobody goes public they just name the suburb
