Chiang Mai to Celebrate Songkran Festival on April 13-17

CHIANG MAI, April 5 (TNA) – The provincial administrative organization of the northern province announced to organize its Lanna-style Songkran festival from April 13 to 17.

 

The festival will be organized at the 82nd Anniversary Chaloem Phrakiat Park and the backyard of the Chiang Mai provincial hall.

 

The festival will show off Lanna cultures and traditions including the traditional bathing of Buddha images from nine Buddhist temples, Chiang Mai food contests, a beauty pageant, an exhibition of local craftsmanship, folk music performances, classical dances and the traditional creation of sand pagodas.

This should be interesting with the covid situation....should I expect to see thais in Hawaiian shirts out n about?   I have seen the guns at 7-11-----lots of tourists here-I dont see them following the rules as most dont even wear masks(the 20 somethings)..... Stay Dry Gents!

Why the extra 2 days should be 13 to 15th like every year. So lets have it all at the Temples where it all started from.

16th and 17th are Saturday and Sunday.
