I got my TIN from a tax service department in Jomtien. It's too far back for me to remember where exactly. I said I needed one to open a bank account in Germany (or was it France? Never mind.) I got my TIN quick no further questions asked.

Am also thinking to apply for a TIN as recently moved to Bangkok and was asked for it by my overseas bank as changed address from Hong Kong.  If I obtain a TIN here do you then need to fill in a tax return every year if retired and not looking to claim any interest back etc?
