BANGKOK (NNT) - Telecommunications company Advanced Info Service (AIS) and Krungthai Bank are collaborating to breathe new life into the government’s popular 50-50 copay campaign.

The new initiative aims to assist SMEs, which are still being affected by the economic downturn stemming from the ongoing pandemic and the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The fourth phase of the copay campaign ended on Saturday and the government has yet to announce when it will launch a fifth phase.

Somchai Lertsutiwong, executive vice president of marketing at AIS, said the program allows customers to use AIS Points as currency to spend at more than 400,000 vendors. The program uses the government’s Tung Ngen e-payment system, which falls under the supervision of Krungthai Bank.

According to AIS, the campaign is already in effect and the company plans to extend participant coverage to one million in the next phase.

Somchai also noted that the move has essentially created an ecosystem between AIS and Krungthai Bank, simplifying the transactions between the two entities.

More information about AIS Points and the campaign can be inquired by calling the hotline 1149.
