Misty
Can you send your questions via a message to the LA consulate's Facebook page? The NY consulate was pretty helpful to me over FB messaging a couple of months ago.
ubonjoe
I think the e visa website has not been updated since the May 1st when the new Thailand Pass requirements started. You can use wife's house for proof of accommodations. If your wife is Thai you could apply for a non-o visa based upon marriage that will allow a 90 day entry that can be extended for 60 days to visit her. I have seen a few reports of them issuing a multiple entry non-o visa in the US.

PoodThaiMaiDai
Yes, the Thailand Embassy or consulate at each city has different rules it appears. While trying to obtain my retirement visa I was so sick of the stupid inconsistencies, I ended up just paying for a Thailand Elite Visa to cut all the BS. It was a little expensive but I am very glad I did it.
Sheryl
If applying for the Special Tourist visa (9 month) proof of accommodation for 90 days is required. Nothing to do with Thailand Pass, this refers to the Special Tourist visa requirement. Some Embassies are saying only paid accommodation is acceptable.Others will accept a letter of invitation from someone with home in Thailand. If referring to a single entry tourist visa, not needed.
