Tarqin
Mate of mine is a teacher at a grammar school in UK. He has a first in Geography from Oxford (were we met) is Head of Geography at his school and has 15 years teaching experience. He wants to move to Thailand but would need to work to support himself. Does anyone know what sort of salary he would command at a school in Thailand? Given his qualifications could be teach at a University? Location is open but he would prefer to work in/near Pattaya and hates Bangkok.
stevemiddie
Hello. He obviously has QTS . Does he have PGCE? If he does he should be ok with a position at a university or a good international school. Salaries vary from 50k to 120k a month ( baht ) Depends on location. How old is he? He should be looking in the Times Educational Supplement for positions in Thailand. If he is recruited from overseas he will have a better salary, paid air flights etc.
PeaceBlondie
The advice already given is excellent for any first ranking international school in the kingdom. We have threads in the Teaching in Thailand forum saying much the same. Not sure if he'd be happy at a Thai university, teaching geography in English, to Asians. Tarqin
He is 44. He has QTS and PGCE. Did not know the TES had job adverts for Thailand will pass that on. 50 to 120 seems a big spread. Where would the higher paying jobs be?
DragonQuest
thats as high as your gonna get, and those types of jobs are very rare to say the least, an average teaching salary is around 30k I wish him luck, in any case if he wants the big bucks he should go to korea or HK.
