Thai school drops military-style uniforms for kindergarteners after backlash

A school in Thailand’s western province of Kanchanaburi has backed off its plan for kindergarten students to wear military style fatigues once a week, after it came under heavy criticism for unnecessarily increasing the financial burden on parents and for its supposed military indoctrination.

The school will, however, still require Grade 3 kindergarteners to undergo territorial defence training, albeit without the uniform.

The students will also be required to wear a vest featuring flags of ASEAN member countries on top of their student uniforms every Friday and a track suit every Wednesday.

Hmmmm....

I'd be more curious as to where this outrage might be coming from and the general percentage of those crying out.

A selected provincial outrage or a growing countrywide trend?

Remember the good old days when journalistic news features were extensive and follow ups expected.

Are we due an invasion?

The good old days are gone... no point reminiscing.

Polish your boots and get in line.

I bet at that age they would be a real  help in the defence of Thailand. Utter nutcases

It is necessary for society to push back against nonsense. Especially anything related to the extremely toxic military here. Kids should not be influenced by these uniforms, and made to feel as if there is anything to gain by being a part of this creepy organization.

So they can later fit in perfectly with those "other" kindergarteners stuck in adult bodies, a.k.a. the Thai Army?

Apparently the Thai government are trembling at the thought of an unseen enemy crossing the border and releasing billions of vials of human intelligence onto the unsuspecting Thai nation. ????

Finally a "biological attack" that everybody should embrace with open arms. Except the Thai government, of course.

Such societal rumblings of challenging and questioning the faux and mindless authority [certainly en masse] will be slow to evolve when the greater percentage still feel a romance [to varying degrees] towards traditional patronage.

And while they keep being reminded that at school or in fact in many situations 'you're not allowed to ask questions, that's rude'.

If the military need the support of grade 3 kindergartners it shows how powerful the Thai military really is.

I have no printable words to describe the school director.

I am reminded of George Orwell's novel 1984 where all schoolchildren were required to be members of s paramilitary organisation called "the Spies"

When the all the pillars of the country say a good citizen must be ripped of their potential to be a fully developed human being it has all gone wrong.

Praise the state, praise the army. praise the Buddha and praise the........ missing ones.

The indoctrination must start early to sow the seed.
