Ipad not receiving sms

Featured Replies

A family member has purchased a used Ipad.

A new sim was purchased from AIS , and they have no other Apple products..

SMS message sent from another family members Samsung will not show up on the Ipad.

I have tried trouble-shooting on Google , but they all refer to " Imessages ' or using another Apple product to sign it etc. Which is not an option.

She just wants to be able to receive normal SMS texts .

Have you tried the SIM in a "normal" phone??

Maybe the SIM slot on the iPad has a problem?

It connects to the internet okay , so I don't think it is the sim slot.

They use it for TIKTOK , YouTube etc.

It is a configuration issue. The I pad can get standard sms messages. I just tested a message from an Android (Samsung) phone and it’s no problem.

However she needs an Apple ID (it’s free) and to sign into it to enable all the functions. I do not see why that is not an option.

Thanks for your reply.

To set up an Apple ID , don't you need to link a credit card and does it have to be done through Itunes ?

Enter your credit card and billing information, then tap Next. You can also choose None. Learn what to do if None isn't showing or you can't select it. You won't be charged until you make a purchase.

Read the quote again please, it says "You can also choose None"

When applying for the Apple ID, just select NONE when asking for Billing information, thus NO need for a credit card
