snoop1130
PATTANI, May 23 (TNA) – Parents will call for the ouster of the principal of Anuban Pattani School for prohibiting students from wearing hijabs there. The conflict started in May 2018 as the management of the primary school said that students could not wear a hijab and had to follow its uniform regulations strictly because the school stood in the compound of a Buddhist temple, Wat Nopawongsaram. Popular Post RichardColeman
Religion - like alcohol and fags - should be banned on anyone until they are 18 and able to make up their own mind. It's just indoctrination into what your parents want, you have no choice in the matter. I therefore support the school head. 6 1

And parents or any others who force religion onto children should likewise be permantaly banged up for crimes against children. Enforcement of so called religious beliefs must be one of the most heinous crimes undertaken by the human race. 4 1

brianthainess
It should be up to the kids, freedom of choice, maybe the school don't like it 'coz they can't see the draconian hair cut rules being carried out. Stargeezr
I do not believe that a Buddhist temple forces women to wear scarves, etc. in the Temple. The school is on temple grounds. The Hijab is something that women are being forced to wear in Afghanistan and faces must be covered as well, soon to be followed by full burkas. Thank goodness, Thailand is not like Afghanistan, hey.. Maybe the students can go and learn at a Mosque in Pattani?

In 30 years going to hundreds of Wats I have never seen Buddhists forcing a woman to put a scarf on. Big difference between what a religious place of worship imposes to a school attempting to limit those restrictions.

Stocky
58 minutes ago, Mavideol said: Afghanistan comes to mind Afghanistan? Rubbish. It's just a simple head scarf - a hijab or tudung; it's not a niqab or burqa, a hijab covers the head only. Most Muslim schoolgirls wear them here in the south, it's not a problem. The issue is the school fussing because the school is in the grounds of a Buddhist temple. I thought there had already been a ruling to say the school was wrong.
