BANGKOK (NNT) - Nightclubs, bars, and other nightlife entertainment venues have been warned to strictly adhere to Covid-19 prevention measures as they prepare to reopen for business next month.

The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has approved the reopening of nightlife entertainment venues in 31 provinces beginning on June 1, 2022. These venues include pubs, bars, karaoke bars, massage parlors, and other nightlife establishments. However, these business operators must strictly follow the Public Health Ministry’s Covid-free setting measures and close at midnight. They are also asked not to hold promotional events in order to avoid overcrowding which could turn these venues into new Covid-19 infection clusters.

Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan, the assistant spokesperson for the CCSA, reiterated that only nightlife outlets in 31 provinces, which consisted of 14 green and 17 blue zone designated provinces, will be allowed to reopen for business. The reopening of these venues for the 46 provinces designated as yellow zones is still under consideration since the number of infection cases remains high in some provinces.

The spokesperson added that some nightlife venues have already reopened without authorization. Authorities will issue warnings to these violators and will temporarily close their businesses if infections are found in their venues.

???? "Preventative measures", code for right envelopes to the right people.

Why? Prevention from what? More nonsense to keep the prentence that a state of emergency is needed. It's not. Open up the entire country Prayut and face the music of a nation that hates you and wants you OUT.

Learning to live with Covid, eh?

Utter nonsense , simply a futile exercise in attempting to keep control of the populace ,

If Europe can reopen fully , without dire consequencies , there is no logical reason why Thailand cannot follow suit.

THe bars will sell a lot if you have to drink with your mask on ....

Finally the Bar/Restaurant can finally loose the Restaurant and become a true Bar once again. No more drinks out of coffee mugs.

Rather a slow start one would assume, not many foreign tourists to share around.

I had to look to see if the date of this article was from sometime during the Delta Phase, or else April 1, 2022.

When is a re-opening not a re-opening?  I guess when it's just a re-defining.

Agogos, open now for months under the 'restaurant scheme', never served a single crumb of food. Neither will any suddenly serve more alcohol than at present, just because they again may call themselves a 'bar'.

There are zero 'prevention measures' in force. It's already "deja vu all over again"....as in 2019: unmasked folks can sit as close as physics allows.

Unless my mobile clock is wrong, or Bangkok joined a new time zone, I think agogos are already serving for hours past the official 12 midnight closing.

Several have already proven (in double un-blind clinical trials subject to constant perv review) that despite suggestions to the contrary, bikinis do not cause Covid. Don't believe me? Go see for yourself, as little is left to the imagination.

One wonders for whom these announcements are made, since they have absolutely no connection to the current reality.

Get real!

What?

Just like the bars masquerading as restaurants are now, 555

It will business as usual, envelopes keeping the status quo moving along nicely.

Better to stay closed. Just to be on the safe side especially with this new disease floating around.

You might want to visit now whilst China still stops mass tourism

What exactly are the preventative measures spoken of ?

mask wearing and distance of 1,5 m .... so conversations are impossible with the too loud music in the bars....555

"However, these business operators must .... close at midnight."

But that's not "night life". These are regulations for kindergartens and not for adults. As if a busy bar at 2am posed a higher risk than the same bar at 10pm. What puritanical nonsense.

Right. This only works with bribes to the BIB. Ultimately, longer opening hours are not legal and bar owners risk their license. Such unworldly closing times only open the doors to blackmail, although the population wants to be able to celebrate unhindered.

What absolute drivel.
I was out last night. Started in Soi 4 with a few bars before heading to a particularly well know venue on Soi 11. Arrived at about 11 to find a rammed venue with no social distancing, no masks and people literally elbow to elbow. If they were supposed to be 'strictly adhering to Covid-19 prevention measures' then I guess the message got lost in translation as there was zero covid measures in place.

Nonsense, since when has that been happening. Pattaya bars and gogo's have been fully open for at least 6 weeks with full drinking from bottles and glasses. Drinking from a coffee mug was at least 6 months ago. There is even topless dancing now in some gogo's.

But is that in Boyztown ? ????

Check the expiry dates on those bottles!!

True bars never became restaurants anyway, other than in name (there's no food). Also there has been no need to drink out of coffee mugs in 2022, so you must be referring to last year

How about we warn the government to ease up, and drop all restrictions, otherwise tourism will be destroyed forever. And how about we also warn them of the need for recreation, and the consequences of a society without it.

And lastly, how about if we warn them to stop threatening us constantly.

My recent night out in Pattaya did not uncover any bars masquerading as restaurants..... a few take-outs were though!

No expiry dates on beer bottles in Thailand only fill dates. In any case its not an issue, bars have been open for months now.
