contract ended - what happens with work permit

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

my work contract ends tomorrow and I am wondering what's happening with my work permit

First, who gets to own the physicial permit (blue booklet). Does is stay with the employer or is it my personal property, like a passport?

Secondly, does the permit to work automatically expire after ending the contract with this particular employer or is it still valid?

Thanks for clarification and best regards

You just start to think about this, 1 day before your contract ends?

A bit late, you don't think?

I don't see a problem with that. But thanks for your advice....

The work permit needs to be cancelled and your extension of stay based on working ends when your contract is finished. Why do you still have a book and not a digital work permit?

A contract ending does not really mean the work permit and extension of stay is tied to it as long has his employment has not ended.

Thanks UJ.

Extension of stay is not tied with the work permit in my case.

So how about the work permit itself? Is it still valid, let's say for my next employer?

And who gets the blue booklet?

You will need to cancel your work permit and apply for new one for new job.

The work permit book is yours to keep but it will be cancelled.
