Thailand’s Constitutional Court revoked the parliamentary status of Bhumjaithai party-list MP Samlee Raksuthee today (Wednesday), retroactive to March 24th 2019, after finding him unqualified to contest the election in the first place.

The court ruled that Samlee was convicted by the Maha Sarakham provincial court on a fraud charge. The case was concluded before he stood for election.

The court said that Samlee applied to run in the election, despite being fully aware that he was not qualified to do so.

I was wondering why a Bhumjaithai MP (allied to coup makers) could be convicted. Then I read the full article......

"A former MP of the Opposition’s now-defunct Future Forward party, Samlee defected to Bhumjaithai, the second biggest government coalition party after the dissolution of his former party. "

So much for the fact checking process in governmental elections

Anyone that is against the government in any way will be taken out one way or another. This is nothing new. Same rules don’t apply to the ruling party.

Well......you gotta give it a go aint ya ? Mums the word.

Moi ? Fraud ? Nahhh .................I was fitted up ....honest .

So should he not be facing yet another fraud charge , or at

least be made to pay back the money he has received while

been an MP .

I'm surprised being convicted of fraud is considered grounds for disqualification...........it's more likely to be a prerequisite surely?

I guess his mistake was committing fraud in Thailand.........anywhere else and he would be free to stand.

Prayuth was not 'qualified' to do so, but that didn't stop him.

Might be fair to ask who selects this Constitutional Court life membership?

....or any other special clubs.

To be expected, we're distracted by chasing up the wrong tree.
