Following months of speculation over Boris Johnson's leadership in the wake of the partygate allegations, enough Conservative MPs have submitted letters of no confidence in the PM. He needs half of MPs, plus one, to survive the vote

Boris Johnson has sent a letter to Conservative MPs calling for their support ahead of a confidence vote in his leadership of the Conservative Party today [Monday].

After enough MPs submitted letters calling for a contest a vote will take place between 6pm and 8pm this evening in the House of Commons, with the result expected about an hour after voting closes.

Following months of speculation, it was confirmed at least 54 MPs - 15% of Tory MPs - have written to the chair of the 1922 Committee of Tory backbenchers, Sir Graham Brady, calling for a vote just under two-and-a-half years after the Tories won their biggest majority since the 1980s.

Well Bojo is still there for now, at least, but with a poor level of confidence - 211 to 148.

Now wait to be told what a spectacular victory it was for Johnson and anyway, what about something else. It won't be long...

We could also wait to be told that he’s still got to go and this will enable Liebour to win the next election.
Oh, we’ve already had that plenty of times but Boris is still there.

Result was never in doubt but the margin of victory was a disaster for Johnson. Now a question of when he goes. Bookies have him 1/2 not to lead Tories into next election.
