Daily News Thai Caption: Losses totalling 58 million

Daily News reported yesterday that Patthapong Chiangkasem, a legal representative of Verisec Co. Ltd and Pol Col Thanin Chatcharoenporn of the Ratchaburi provincial police along with local officers armed with a search warrant went to two rented shop units in downtown Ratchaburi.

Verisec says online that it is Thailand's premier brand protection and commercial investigation consultancy, notes ASEAN NOW.

The raid uncovered more than 20,000 items of pirated sports clothing including brand name items and fake English Premier League football shirts. Losses from the fakes total 58 million baht.

Patthapong explained that his company had been trying to find the people behind an online sales platform called "100 laan thuuk dee jing" that translates as "100 million really cheap".

He said that those responsible had moved around to four separate storage locations and that his organisation had found out they were now operating out of downtown Ratchaburi so they contacted the police to get a search warrant.

Locals said that everyday people would come with lots of sacks of merchandise and it was clearly a highly profitable business. They didn't know what the items were in the storage facility.

Investigations continue as to who is behind it all.

Of course they're fake goods, who in Thailand is going to import and try to sell genuine ones for a huge inflated price?

No-one is going to but them.

Exactly anyone who pays stupid prices for anything manufactured in low cost labour countries and then sold for 1000 % mark-up want their heads tested.  In fact some of these "fake" goods are not fake at all rather rejected as not first quality for export and hence move out of the factory "back door" .
