Jai Dee Posted June 19, 2007 Share Posted June 19, 2007 Sirikit Dam can endure vibration from earthquakes in the Northern region Director of the Sirikit Dam expresses confidence that the dam can endure vibrations from earthquakes in the Northern region, adding that the dam has enough capacity to contain rainfalls during this rainy season. Director of the Sirikit Dam in Uttaradit Province Kiti Tancharoen (กิติ ตันเจริญ) reveals that the water level of the dam today is 145.41 meters above the sea level and the water volume is 5,684.75 million cubic meters or 59.78%. The director says he has a plan to release the water of 18 million cubic meters to assist farmers. However, the water releasing plan mainly depends on the Royal Irrigation Department. Mr Kiti expresses confidence that the water volume of the dam will be sufficient for the next drought season. He also affirms that the dam has specialists monitoring it 24 hrs a day and the recent earthquake in the Northern region has no effect on it. Ever since the construction of Mae Ngat Dam past Mae Rim in the early 80's there has been concern over its ability to stand-up to full capacity. Now if that one went it could cause a few of Ewe Gees books to suffer. Gonzo had better step up the construction of his Ark as well. BTW. Hope you lot up there have a spare set of wellies! We live in our wellies, have gas masks permanently Super-Glued to our faces, and have 6-man Zodiacs ready to make our escape down the river to the tribal territories..... Good to see you Andrew!
