77khaoded Thai Caption: Hanging wires

77khaoded reported that a motorcycle taxi rider or "Win" came off his bike after his neck was caught up in hanging cables.

This latest case - at least the second this week and one of many in recent months - happened on a road in North Samrong, Samut Prakan south east of the Thai capital Bangkok.

"Ploen Jit" posted about the accident on Facebook; it happened in Soi Wat Dan Samrong near a reservoir.

Fortunately the rider was not seriously injured despite coming off. He didn't bother to report it; what was the point, he'd just lose income.

People at the scene of the accident on Friday helped to pull the mystery wires aside so that no one else would fall victim.

Interesting that the victim says 'what's the point of reporting it'. The assumption being that nothing will be done, so why bother.

As an installation that is a disaster

Some you "win" some you .......

Cannot help but think that this is far too neat and tidy and unrepresentative of 99.9% of all Thai cluttered  wire-poles !

It also seems to have knocked off his license plate, before making it vanish into thin air.

Which is why it happens all the time, no-one in any company is ever held responsible.

The victim might run afoul of the defamation laws.

Not again....    The headline just about sums up the continued exasperation with the sheer utter absence of a ‘give a f@%k culture here’....

When companies are protected by defamation laws, when there is no accountability there is of course no responsibility.

One of the most frustrating issues in Thailand is safety....  When ever something is pointed out the ‘foreigner’ is accused of ‘thinking too much’ and / or told... this is the 'Thai-way’ which is ultimately extremely annoying when its easy to see how someone could be hurt yet its just pushed away in a dismissive manner....

There is no incentive for anyone to do things properly....  no one in any position of accountability cares for the simple reason they are not forced to be accountable.

ONLY when companies are sued for significant compensation will these issue start to get resolved.

I don’t like a culture which likes to file lawsuits at the drop of a hat, but this is the only way I can see improvement because there is no way to generate a culture where people and business genuinely care, so they have to be forced to care....

The WIN was riding a Honda Wave. The motorcycle in photo with no number plate is definitely not a Wave, not with that small, fat rear tyre.

We had a had a heck of a storm here in Banglamung last night, drove out this morning and nearly ripped a cable down, luckily someone had tied a carrier bag onto it,saw it at the last minute
