geevlus
Exactly 5 years ago tomorrow my Thai wife and I came to live in the UK. Actually, when I look back, we didn't really intend to "live" here, but have ended up in a sort of rut I suppose. Finances being a limiting factor for not living in Thailand. Before we left for England my wife was saying goodbye to a friend in Thailand who happened to mention that she'd been to England too. My wife than asked her the obvious, "Well, what's it like?". The girl paused, reflected, sighed and then said " It's very nice, beautiful, clean etc but.................................................................IT'S THE MOST BORING, DRAB MISERABLE PLACE I HAVE EVER BEEN TO, I WAS SUPPOSED TO STAY FOR 3 MONTHS BUT I ONLY LASTED 11 DAYS" She then asked me, as an Englishman, "How on Earth can you spend your life there?". Obviously there are many benefits of living in an affluant, developed, civilized Country, but that girls words have always stayed with me. But strangely enough Wifey quite likes it here
