The government is monitoring new sub strains of Covid 19 that emerged in Europe, just days before the ‘Thailand pass’ is due to be scrapped on July 1st.

 

The director of the Department of Medical Science said initial findings show: the new strains can evade immunity better than previous strains.But there is no need for panic. The department is studying the new strains to determine how they differ from previous strains.

 

The Japanese Owner of the Daruma Sushi restaurant franchise Meta Chaling-suk, was arrested yesterday at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi upon his return to Thailand, 

 

He denied charges of fraud and told officers his business had to close due to Covid-19.

 

Officers seized 20,000 dollars in cash, and froze a bank account containing 100,000 baht. He was taken into custody for further questioning.

 

Thailand's deputy prime minister thanked Cambodia for it’s co operation in busting scam call centers that had lured Thai nationals to work then forcing them to persuade victims into investing in a fraudulent cryptocurrency trade, using the social media platform ‘Tinder.

 

Asean member states also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen regional cooperation at yesterdays Asean Defense Ministers meeting in Phnom Penh.

 

The Move Forward Party says it will introduce a bill to seek protection for ethnic groups in Thailand.

 

The Bill seeks to set up a formal indigenous peoples’ council that will protect indigenous peoples’ rights, especially their rights to self-determination. It’s believed there are at least 30 ethnic minority groups and none of them are recognized as formal ethnic groups.

Bangladesh authorities intensified efforts yesterday to deliver food and drinking water to millions of people struggling after heavy rain unleashed catastrophic flooding across a quarter of the country.

 

North Korean state media reports that leader Kim Jong Un continued to preside over the second day of the nation's major party meeting on its military and defense policies.

 

Kim stressed the importance of enhancing the operational capabilities of  frontline units. The meeting is being closely watched by the south as it could provide clues on the timing of a nuclear test, which the North is seen to have been preparing for weeks.
