On the day that PM and defence minister Prayuth Chan-ocha told a meeting that soldiers must not use marijuana recreationally comes news that military men in Region 1 of the army attended a seminar beamed live to the barracks.

Three topics were on the agenda, reported Daily News. PDPA, weed law and legal weed use.

A senior public prosecutor called Pratchaya Mahawinitchaimontree explained about the PDPA - personal data protection act, a subject that has been much in the news recently.

Another prosecutor called Theepakorn Komonphanporn explained the law surrounding marijuana, krathom (both of which have been legalized recently) and about online gambling.

While the legal use of ganja and krathom was explained by an expert in the field Chaiwat Banjai.

Prayuth has warned Thai soldiers not to use weed recreationally and called for education.

The army seemed to have got the memo, even if Prayuth may have been behind the curve, notes ASEAN NOW.
