A no confidence debate proposed by opposition parties will take place between the 19th to 22nd of July, even though the opposition had asked for a 5 day debate.

 

Parliament president Chuan Leekpai said the next step is to thrash out how debating time will be allocated among speakers from both sides. 

 

The Cabinet yesterday approved a budget of 330 billion baht to enhance infrastructure, utilities and communication networks along the Eastern Economic corridor in Chonburi, over the next 5 years.

  

The government is to drop the 20 percent import duty on child safety seats until the end of next year, a new law requiring youngsters under the age of to be restrained with a car seat is due to come into effect from the 4th September.

 

Prison authorities have set up a committee to look into the attempted suicide of 3 inmates over the weekend, one had swallowed about 30 pain killers, the other two had cut their wrists, all were taken to prison hospital and are in a satisfactory condition.

 

A consumer protection group has objected to a planned fare of up to 59 baht for the new Green line BTS  train service saying the fare should not exceed 44 baht. The higher rate was justified to reduce the debts owed by the operator. The Green line is currently operating a temporary free ride service.


Thailand's bus association says 50 companies that operate interprovincial buses will reduce their operations from July 1st, due to high fuel costs.

(ASEAN) Special Envoy to Myanmar will start his second tour to the country today.

 

The aim of the trip is to contribute to building an environment conducive to an inclusive political dialogue. Myanmar's military has ruled out any meeting with Aung San Suu Kyi.

 

Bangladesh: The Red Cross,  says 7 point 2 million people are still in "desperate" need of shelter and aid after deadly floods swept across the country earlier this month.

 

The government has sent food rations and other emergency aid but much of the north is still swamped and difficult to reach.
