According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia also ranked Chiang Mai as the sixth-best city in Southeast Asia, while Ko Samui and Ko Phi Phi made the list of the ten best islands in Southeast Asia, coming in second and ninth place, respectively. Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia complimented Bangkok’s hospitality, spicy street food and unique modes of transportation, such as motorbike taxis or tuk-tuks, while mentioning scores of restaurants in the nation’s capital. The agency also praised Phuket for its diverse neighborhoods, unique accommodations, outdoor activities and various attractions. In the Asia’s Best Awards, readers vote on a variety of categories, including their favorite hotels, resorts, restaurants and bars, with separate "best of" lists for Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
