A 14-year-old boy died while two others have sustained injuries after an intoxicated driver crashed his pickup truck into a motorbike in Banglamung last night (July 7th).

Emergency responders were notified of the accident at 10:00 P.M. on a road near the Mapprachan Reservoir. They arrived at the scene to find the damaged pickup truck and the damaged motorbike on the side of the road.

Two adult women have sustained serious injuries while a 14-year-old boy has been pronounced dead at the scene. The names of the victim and injured were withheld by law enforcement.

There needs to be mandatory prison sentences for anyone

caught DUI , it's time to come down hard on drink driving ,

prison for those caught over the limit, longer sentences for

those that injure or kill people ,examples need to be made

of these people who think its OK to get drunk ,then get behind

the wheel of a vehicle.

Totally agree about the drunk driver being incarcerated/lynched, but a 14 year old driving two ladies on a motor bike is also way against the law.

99% of Thailand would be in jail. At least the roads would be clear.

Another moron speeding and drunk in a modified agricultural utility vehicle.

Thailand needs to get serious with these pests.

drinking and driving in Thailand is not taken seriously, Thais farangs all do it simply because there is little risk of getting caught and it is getting worse, until the police actually get off their lazy ### and actually take it seriously it will continue unchallenged - the cops are more interested in shutting bars down for bribes to reopen - corruption rules

RIP

The sad side of this story is that the pickup driver will "buy" himself out at the police station and it will end as another "fait divers" on the killing roads of Thailand.

As long as a useless police force can take decisions that should be done by a competent court and people can buy themselves free, nothing will change.

Tip to the 14 year old boy.

One murder, two attempted murder charges... nothing less to stop this carnage.

and more driving when drunk .so sad -.7 years in prison for the driver should be !!!!

Where does it say that the kid was driving? Not in this article. What is your source, please.

Helmets?

There's nothing in the OP or in the linked Pattaya News article that indicates the 14 year-old was in charge of the motor bike.

Lets have it correct shall we

They are not Pests

Pests are something like a Fly annoying you when eating your Food.

These people are Murderers

The fact they use a Vehicle and not a Gun or Knife makes no difference.

Sorry, it does not say that.............but I'll bet he was.

Those charges wouldn’t even happen in a Western Country.

Only a charge with a similar penalty to manslaughter and even then they don’t always go to jail.

I have mentioed before that in the 1920's in the UK it was a reasonable defence to claim that you were drunk whilst driving and therefore any accident wasn't really your fault. Seems to be that way inThailand now

Drunk driver killing another person = jail time I hope

RIP young fella

A pickup truck or pickup is a light-duty truck that has an enclosed cabin and an open cargo area with low sides and tailgate. In Australia and New Zealand, both pickups and coupé utilities are called utes, short for utility vehicle.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pickup_truck

Hope that clarifies. ????

You may call them 'utes' down under, but in UK, USA & Thailand etc, they are pick-ups.

They are still utility vehicles though.

OK, last word goes to you.

I think I would rather wait for the Blood Test result before joining the "hang him high" brigade.
