Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt made a surprise visit to the On Nut garbage disposal facility late last night (Thursday) to watch how garbage collectors do their jobs. He also took a ride on one of their collection trucks.

During the visit, the governor told Thai PBS reporters that, while many people in Bangkok have several days off this week, the city’s garbage collectors, who have to work every day from midnight until 6am, do not.

Dressed in a garbage collector’s uniform, he admitted he had never thought of riding on a garbage truck to gain a first-hand insight into how the garbage collection system functions in the capital.

Well done!

He seems to have done this AFTER the election and not just as a "vote for me" publicity stunt but seeminly as a true fact finding mission!

'Well done' would be actually he collected some garbage and got his hands dirty - anyone can ride in the cab !

so what facts did he find, which were not known to him before?

still, it was rather post-election publicity stunt. He is aiming higher and has good PR team

On nut now has one nut more ????

Still, what other governor before him did that?

I hope he's been enlightened as to the state of rubbish pick-up points and it's collection... everything in the back of one truck.

Never seen Prayut or ole Fatty in one yet... those trucks and all the other minions are ushered out of the way as they come through in their police protected motorcade

How about riding in a garbage truck in the West….he will learn they use a container system with mechanical lifts so only one driver per truck…different color bins for source separation everywhere

thailand does many things right…..solid waste management/litter control is not one of them….

Garbage truck in my village leaks badly.

I have to get the gurney out on the Soi with detergent after they come through.

I really do not envy these guys/girls picking up maggot filled bins.

Settle down folks. The garbage truck had a Mercedes badge......
