Well over 100 bent cops sacked from "rotten" RTP this year - Prayuth's 20 year corruption drive continues

Siam Rath reported on the latest damning figures of police corruption and malfeasance in Thailand.

PM Prayuth Chan-ocha had just chaired the latest meeting of the Police Commission that reports on such infractions.

Since January 1st until July 25th 133 police officers have been thrown out of the Royal Thai Police for gross and serious disciplinary crimes.

19 more were added to the list so far this month.

In addition a further 32 were sanctioned under "plort ork" designations. This means they will leave the RTP but retain certain benefits, ASEAN NOW understands.

And a further 165 were kept on but punished for disciplinary infractions - including another 20 this month.

Prayuth declared at the start of his tenure eight years ago that he would end corruption in Thailand in 20 years.

With close to one cop a day being drummed out of the force it is clear that this is an ongoing matter, notes ASEAN NOW.

Though critics have suggested that the RTP is little short of a crime mafia and the sackings are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the rotten state of the police in Thailand.

Siam Rath did not report on the crimes committed by the sacked officers, merely the numbers.

  • Funny but I still remember many many years ago driving into Pattaya.. Two cops were pulling over cars and demanding 200 baht. Both so drunk that they could hardly walk... Kinda miss the good old days.

May seem odd , but I would take those days over these days in a heart beat.

133 + 19 from 300000.

What a gigantic achievement.

A Real police reform looks different.

I have a friend who is involved in international drug trade detection processes, part of Interpol. He advises police and customs forces worldwide and says Thailand is the only country in the world that shows complete disinterest in what he does and where the police actively and openly, without fear of retribution, interfere in the detection processes. This goes to the top. Discussions with Prayut's government at the highest levels have met similar total disinterest. They are all rotten to the core.

try 50,000 then i may take this seriously.

I wouldn't. If you have nothing to reproach yourself why worry?

There still is blatant racism sgainst foreigners in cases which pit foreigners against Thais and this will unfortunately never be under consideration because we are always guilty no matter wjat.

I've lost count how many of these stories pop up and quickly vanish.

Window dressing and nothing more.

Yawn

Just propaganda to attempt to demonstrate they are doing something !!!

What a coincidence...I "have a friend" also, just like yours but he says the exact opposite of your "friend"!

So in 8 years he has got to 133 plus a bit prior to January I guess. Statistically he is never ever going to get to the remaining 229,867 bent RTP before his 20 years is up

Are they all Bent?  I know a few that are as honest as anyone I have ever met, and because of that are still low level folks after 20 years.....no payments for the elephant list and still a non commissioned officer even though they have degrees from Universities here along with extensive schooling.  Live modest lives no flash, wives are nurses.

No that is why I said 229,867 rather than 229, 900 to account for the few you know ????

I guess I have the overwhelming evidence of institutional corruption in the RTP on my side. You have the fact you have made a vacuous nitwit statement on your side. Back to your morning chang.

I know some good ones also.

You have proof that 229,867 more are bent?  If not, your post is a fat false lie.

Indeed. A man staging a coup and ruling by decree for years before finally rigging an election, is not a man to be taken seriously when he is pontificating about corruption....

With your statement it appears you may be in  love with an RTP person and enjoying all of their ill gotten benefits ????

sack 20 but have added how many new corrupt officers during this period?

Picture news flash: "Crew of Titanic has pumped out 200,000 gallons of seawater since striking the berg".... in the meantime 1,000,000 gallons have flooded in...

"Prayuth's 20 year corruption drive continues" i would give myself a lot, lot longer to rid the country and the police force from its rogue elements, if at all...

Unfortunately it is not just the RTP rooted in utter corruption

  • Popular Post

Wouldn't surprise me if they were removing the honest ones

  • Popular Post

OK, so all done is useless. Let me recommend that the bent cops get rehired into immigration.

Joe Ferrari would be great in charge of annual extensions.

Used to be one, regularly, where the Lam-Chabang turn off was, pre-motorway,

Sometimes trying to stop fast traffic while totally drunk. His motorbike parked at the side of the road.

Sorry to say, but this is nothing but a band aid over broken bone.

If he was serious about ending corruption, first step would be to triple police salary.

They work 12 hour shifts, for minimum wage, using own transport and everything else.

a Rank of captain, which is normally 10-15 years on the force, gets only 25000, just an average wage.

Increase the salary, provide equipment, and then whoever still corrupt, get rid of them

I don't believe that there is anything new here. Get back to business, stay out of trouble and focus on things that can make a difference.
