Southern Islamic leaders are planning to push for more action against the Thai government to push marijuana back to the narcotics list as they received no response from relevant Thai officials after submitting their demands last week.

 

Sakriya Binsaela, chairman of the Islamic Committee of Songkhla, said on behalf of the Southern Islamic community that supporters would stage activities to pressure the government every Friday in all 300 mosques in five southern provinces, namely Songkhla, Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat, and Satun.

 

The start date will be announced later, Saktiya told Thai PBS.

Very interesting. I am going to light a bong and ponder the matter.

Looks like some are in need of attention. It is ok for them to grow poppies and make hashish in their culture but if the infidels enjoy a doobie then it is wrong.

The self elected all male representatives of 5% of the population putting pressure on the government.  ???? How about the 95% of non muslims pressuring them to give up their jihad in the south, demanding little girls are not made to wear hijabs and to drop the opposition they already have to drinking? If there is one group who do not practice live and let live it's this lot. 

Hypocrisy knows no bounds with this group. Here's the thing, if you don't like it don't F do it! But let the other many millions in this country make their own choice.

The strict Muslims want alcohol to be criminalized as well.  And pork too.

Religions should have sway over their adherents.  If you're Muslim?  Don't drink alcohol, don't use cannabis, and don't eat pork.  And I fully support that.

But as a non-Muslim, I don't need or want my freedoms and liberties dictated by those who follow a religion that I don't follow. 

What business is it of theirs?   

 

No one is forcing them to use cannabis or drink alcohol!

I have a better idea, build a 50 metre high wall along the western edge of Pattani and Yala, from Malaysia to the Gulf. Then let them take themselves back to the fourteenth century, and leave the rest of us in peace.

Alternatively, they can always s*d off to Saudi Arabia, or Iran depending on which brand of idiocy they believe in.

Such fear. Why such fear? Where does belief and discipline come into the picture? Hashish has been used for ages in many Muslim countries. I do not think these guys even have a clue as to how out of step they are with 2022. Sorry, but we all want to move forward. Get with the program.

Try telling Moroccan's that, I have travelled in many Islamic countries they all smoked dope but never drank alcohol.

a lot of them will lose big money, now there's a free market, that's why they protesting

The first time I crossed into Morocco from Ceuta (many many moons ago) by bus...couple of miles after the border inspection smoke started billowing from under the hood/bonnet.

Driver pulled over jumped out lifted the hood ...rooted around in the motor and came out with a smoldering rolled up piece of hessian ...unrolled it and there was a bottle of JW.

Moroccan zero zero was some of the best, along with Afghan and Pakistani black, red Lebanese etc, better than this weed around now. Somebody gave us a lump of brick weed at the weekend, tried it but not impressed, rather have a tramadol and single malt.

There are a few that have a lot of Opium use too....... the power of religion to  tell people what to do eh! Not exactly sure on their position on these narcotics, but most Islamic countries are horrifically strict on dealers/ smugglers etc
