A van ran over and killed a 19-year-old motorcyclist in Sri Racha. The driver claimed the young motorcyclist drove at high speed and caused the accident.

Pol. Capt. Warangkana Ketudomsin from the Nong Kham Police Station received a report at 10:10 PM yesterday, July 31st, that a collision between a van and a motorbike had left a young motorbike rider stuck under the van.

The accident happened on a dim two-lane Bueng – Pak Ruam Road in the Bueng subdistrict of Sri Racha. The white van was found with the victim identified later only as Suphat, 19, stuck beneath the wheel. He suffered multiple bone fractures and was pronounced dead at the scene by Nong Kham police who helped rescue workers rescue his body from under the van.

Such waste of life and youth.

An everyday occurrence here. And bearing in mind that on average someone dies every 30 minutes on Thai roads and that 80% are said to be motorcyclists, there are plenty more similar deaths that don't make the news.
