Daily News reported comments by South Korean media KBS  who said that 115 Thais on a Jeju Airlines flight to Jeju-Do province had been turned back by immigration.

This comes as post pandemic travel restrictions have been eased and once again Thais flock to travel as tourists as well as work illegally in their economic giant of an Asian neighbor.

Further reports suggested that there are 18,000 legal Thai workers in South Korea but 140,000 who are not legal.

Some 50% of Thais are being rejected to work there, sources suggested to Daily News with 5,000 out of 10,000 being rejected in 2022.

More than 10,000 have been deported from the country with a further 13,000+ volunteering for that under an amnesty.

So many Strawberries to pick, and so much money to make....lets go on a 2 week vacation and then stay illegally so we can send the extra money home to build a house, said a friend in Udon to his wife.  Yes this happened, they then spent 3 years working illegally, sent the money home, built a nice house and paid for a new car. Came back here under an amnesty during Covid, but now want to go back and do it again.....No wonder S. Korea is putting the brakes on those folks.

Many of the younger females go to work as 'escorts'.  Remember the story about the 'girl' that was refused entry and yelled at the Immigration people that they were 'water lizards'.  All caught on CCTV and released to the public.  If I remember correctly she had quite a 'rack' which some posters here thought was enhanced.

Hopefully dual pricing also.

Love to hear them complain about that.

Sounds like Thailand, employers not being hit hard for employing illegals.

Wonder how much those people borrowed for a visa and plane ticket bought on the he promise of a now, never to see,  well paying job in Korea.

Still on the bright side the loan sharks and money lenders won't lose out.
