The White House today declared monkeypox a public health emergency.

 

"We are prepared to take our response to the next level in addressing this virus and we urge every American to take monkeypox seriously," Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said to reporters during a briefing on Thursday.

 

A public health emergency can trigger grant funding and open up more resources for various aspects of a federal response.

Just in time for closing down before the November midterm elections.  Things must not look so good for the majority party.

Actually the latest polls over the last weeks look quite good for the Democrats. Besides, there won’t be a lockdown because of monkeypox, which is not airborne like COVID.
