Minneapolis (CNN Business)The US economy has now regained all jobs lost during the pandemic, after a blowout July jobs report that showed a gain of 528,000 jobs, according to data released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The massive monthly gain was more than double the 250,000 that economists were expecting, according to Refinitiv.
The unemployment rate ticked down to 3.5% after holding at 3.6% for the past four months. The July jobless rate matched the half-century low last seen in February 2020.

Why would you say it has the opposite effect? I think it happened despite their efforts, not because of them.

As economists have pointed out, even before this latest report, there was lots of conflicting evidence about whether or not the economy had entered a recession.

Looking a bit better now for Biden. Lots of jobs.  Legislation for climate change, cheaper drugs paid for by big business, seems set to go through.

Signs that women and men may take Roe v Wade seriously when voting such as in Kansas.

Well, for what it's worth, fivethirtyeight.com has the Democrats retaining control in the Senate. But Republicans further ahead in taking back the House. It will be interesting to see what role abortion plays. Clearly, in Kansas, it brought out a lot of votes. 70% of newly registered voters were women.

And success in legislation should have a halo effect.

This should be like swatting a wasp's nest in Western media as Western public figures often go completely berserk when non-Western countries, such as Iran, Russia, North Korea, and China, share technology, especially when their technology surpasses anything in the Western military arsenals. No doubt EU "leaders" like Ursula von der Leyen will be telling her NATO allies that the Geran-5 Jet Drones are nothing but "junk constructed from North Korean washing machines." The Western world leaders and public figures have been traveling together in packs on the Dorohusk, Poland to Kiev, Ukraine rail-line since the beginning of the Russian Special Military Operation. The get to the Kiev rail station where Western press snap pictures, take videos, and film interviews. Lot's of hand-shakes and hugs between Western and Ukrainian public figures. My guess is that the opinion has been that "Russia wouldn't dare to strike a train of Western dignitaries." I have no doubt that Russian intelligence knew which Western dignitaries were on the trains passing through that station. The strike on the locomotive of the train following them, imho, was a stark warning. "Take these trains between Poland and Kiev at your own peril." The next message may end up being up-close-and-personal: "Come to Kiev to engage in overt war planning to attack Russia, and you ARE a co-belligerent and a legitimate target of war." The next month or so should be interesting to watch.

I presume some of you guys also belong to PA. I used to frequent the site but dropped away about a decade back. I knew Edge fairly well, discussed stuff with him many times via PA, and chatted a couple of times with him in bars. So I had a look around the PA blog the other day and I see EDGE RIP. Also Daveo RIP. I knew Daveo quite well and knew he had serious health issues, and heard he had passed away a while back. But Edge? Can anyone tell me what happened to him?

Obviously, such a condition can lead to horrific consequences to society. Mass murderers and political extremists can both be traced to those who are totally detached from normalcy. This song recently popped into my feed in a criminal justice group I belong to. I wont get into the circumstances as they are too revolting, but suffice it to say that the lyrics an

Do you hide behind a cloak of anomymity? It seems that many on this forum do so? Why? Do you have something to hide? Upset too many people? I'd like to know your reasons. My father taught me to stand by my words and not to hide away, even if that means receiving abuse, ridicule etc. Look for my face and bio on the internet - It's in many public places (no, not the blue 'gonk'!). Nothing to hide. So for those forum members who never reveal themselves, what's the reason?
